Graduate Student Professional Development Grant

The graduate student professional development grant provides a current graduate student with the opportunity (through a financial award) to attend a MACCA Conference.   

The grant is offered every other year dependent on funding (2016, 2018, 2020, etc.). Applications are generally due by October 31st of the award year unless otherwise noted.  

The recipient of the grant will receive up to $250 to be used towards documented conference expenses (Registration fee, hotel, etc.).  Receipts must be provided to obtain funds.   

Student responsibility:

  • Any additional expenses that are not covered by the amount of the award.
  • Staff the registration table for two hours during the conference.
  • Write an article for MACCA Matters Newsletter after attending the conference.


The student must:

  1. be actively enrolled in a graduate program in one of the following fields: counseling, student personnel, human resources management, or other closely related field, at an accredited institution.
  2. have a strong interest in the areas of career/employment counseling.
  3. only receive this award once.
  4. in good academic standing.
  5. submit official university transcripts of academic coursework, credits, grades, and GPA
  6. be recommended by two or more persons of the following status:
    • faculty at the student’s current college or university program;
    • colleagues (at least one supervisor) at the applicant’s current place of employment, for persons returning to school after being in the workforce.
