Volunteering has many benefits. It is a great way to meet new people and network. Lots of volunteer opportunities are available. MACCA has over 10 committees that need YOU!   Bring your talent and spare time to benefit the entire membership. The fun comes when you get involved!

Contact the current Committee Chair below to express interest in volunteering on a committee! 

Evaluation Committee: Contact Melissa Schultz

  • Create/update online evaluations to be sent out to members following professional development events. 
  • Analyze findings and report results to executive board committee for future planning purposes.

Hospitality Committee: OPEN Contact Conference Chairs Jane Nini & Mark McFadden

  • Promote events and activities that enhance the educational and networking experiences at all professional development events. 
  • Responsible for planning and hosting activities such as receptions, recreational and cultural activities, and tours.

Nominations Committee: Contact Linda LeNoir

        • Conduct nominations & election procedures as directed Under Article VIII of the MACCA Bylaws.
        • Facilitate communication among officers and membership to identify potential nominees for any vacant positions, including Executive Board and Members-At- Large.

Conference Volunteer Committee: OPEN Contact Conference Chairs Jane Nini & Mark McFadden

  • Solicits and organizes all conference volunteers to provide support as needed.

Membership Committee: Contact Connie Egelman 

    • Recruit and welcome new members at professional development events and through electronic communications.
    • Manage membership records through association management system.

New Professionals and Graduate Students: Contact Jaime Dunn

        • Identify and address issues of concern to new professionals and graduate students
        • Assist in the recruitment of new professionals and graduate student members

Continuing Education Committee: Contact  Rose Howard

  • Serve as liaison to Continuing Education Credentialing bodies (e.g. NBCC).
  • Create and manage timeline to submit materials for all professional development events to qualify for continuing education clock hours.
  • Collaborate with other committees to gather required materials for submissions. 
  • Maintain records from all professional development events to submit for members to receive continuing education credit.

Conference Exhibitors & Sponsors Committee: Contact: Carolyn Yencharis Corcoran

  • Recruit representatives from career services related organizations for sponsorship, advertising and/or demonstrations during professional development events. 

Publicity and Marketing Committee: Contact Amy Armstrong & Barry Davis 

  • Work with the Annual Fall Conference Chair/Co-Chairs to coordinate the dissemination of publicity to members and to targeted constituents.
  • Manage discussions and communication through social media channels such as LinkedIn, twitter, and other networking/communication media.

Registration Committee:  Contact: Cindy Ernharth

  • Facilitate registration for all professional development events.
  • Manage membership association management system database of MACCA events.
  • Collaborate with Treasurer to process payments for membership and events.

Awards Committee:  Contact  Kathleen Cady

  • Identify potential recipients for annual awards.
  • Coordinate communications to elicit nominations and votes from members throughout the association.

Historian: Contact Flora Stowe

  • Maintain an accurate and current record of all events and news related to MACCA.

MACCA MATTERS

Do you have anything about your work that you’d like to share with colleagues?

Our newsletter, MACCA MATTERS (previously e-Interact), is distributed to over 200 of your peers and will be available on our website for the world to view.  Submit an article of no more than 500-600 words. Photos in JPG format, less than 1 MB in size are also welcome for MACCA’s  e-Interact Newsletter!  

We welcome articles about any of the following:

      • MACCA’s Annual Conference – sessions you attended that you found stimulating, your overall experience, etc.
      • Interesting programs related to career counseling in your college or university, or other work setting
      • Articles from Private Practitioners
      • Articles from those who help returning veterans with career services
      • Career Development for International and immigrant    students and non-students
      • Career Counseling with disabled students or non-students  (e.g., those on the Autism spectrum; non-ambulatory individuals; those with chronic health issues; those with chronic mental health diagnoses; hearing and visually impaired, etc.)
      • LGBT issues related to career counseling
      • Articles about interesting trips, experiences, people, etc. who have influenced your career and life

Our readership consists of career professionals mostly in higher education, but we also have those in Private Practice, Government environments, and in business settings.  Many are seasoned professionals looking for information about career counseling programs & ideas that are novel to help the more varied populations that we work with today.
